Special Education works on an approach where the educators facilitate the learning of a disabled student. It is more precisely a form of instruction that will help students with disabilities learn better and mainstream themselves.

Special Education is basically under RCI (Rehabilitation Council of India). RCI is a government body set up under an Act of Parliament, to regulate training programs and courses targeted at disabled, disadvantaged, and special education requirement communities.

In the field of Visual Impairment:

    • Diploma in Computer Education (Visual Impairment):
      This course is designed to train people to use computers to assist visually impaired persons. It could be used for vocational training, education, rehabilitation, or all.
      Duration: 1 Year
      Qualifications to apply for: 10+2 with a minimum of 50%

    • D.Ed Special Education (Deafblind)
      This course aims to prepare special teachers who can provide services to children who are deafblind and children with vision impairment with additional disabilities and their families from infancy to pre-vocational levels
      Duration: 2 Years
      Qualifications to apply for: 10+2 with a minimum of 50%

    • D.Ed in Special Education (Visual Impairment)
      Diploma in Education-Special Education (Visual Impairment) i.e. D.Ed.Spl. Ed. (VI). 
      The current Diploma Program for Special Education is designed to help prepare special educators for working with students who have disabilities in different environments like preschools, early intervention centers, and elementary schools, both in inclusive and special settings and also in home-based training, or when it is necessary to do so as a blended version of programs.
      This program is designed to satisfy the educational needs of children suffering from low vision and blindness within those educational environments.
      Duration: 2 Years

    • B.Ed Special Education (Deafblind) (on a pilot basis)
      This course aims to prepare special teachers who can provide services to children who are deafblind and children with vision impairment with additional disabilities and their families from infancy to pre-vocational levels.
      Duration: 2 Years
      Qualifications to apply for: Must be a graduate pass from a recognized Institute with a 50%

    • B.Ed in Special Education (Visual Impairment)
      This course aims to prepare special teachers who can provide services to children with vision impairment. B.Ed special education is a stream of Bachelors of Education that has been designed to provide special and advanced skills & training to the teachers.
      Duration: 2 Years
      Qualifications to apply for: Must be a graduate pass from a recognized Institute with a 50%

    • M.Ed in Special Education (Visual Impairment)
      The major thrust of the M.Ed. Special Education (Visual Impairment) program would be professional preparation of teacher educators who would through this process be equipped with the knowledge and competencies to facilitate and conduct initial preparation and continuing professional development of teachers.
      Duration: 2 Years
      Qualifications to apply for: A candidate who has successfully passed B.Ed Spl. Ed. with minimum 50% marks in respective disability area from a recognized university or any other degree considered equivalent to B.Ed Spl. Ed. from an affiliating university and/ or teaching department under any University recognized by U.G.C. with RCI registration.
      A candidate who has successfully passed the B.Ed. General course and has successfully completed Diploma in Education Special Education in respective disability area recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India with minimum 50 percent marks in each course.

In the field of Hearing Impairment:

    • Diploma in Teaching Sign Language
      This program is designed to prepare future ISL teachers, who will provide leadership in the sign language teaching field.
      Duration: 2 Years
      Qualifications to apply for: Certificate of Disability (Deaf) 
      Passed class 10+2 (Senior Secondary) or equivalent with a minimum of 45% marks
      Proficient receptive and productive skills in ISL

    • Diploma in Indian Sign Language Interpretation
      The Diploma in Indian Sign Language Interpretation aims to train professional-quality interpreters for people who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing. The diploma will enable the trainees to acquire knowledge, skills, and competencies in interpreting Indian Sign Language into other spoken languages and vice versa.
      Duration: 2 Years
      Qualifications to apply for: Senior Secondary (10+2) or equivalent with a minimum of
      50% marks
      Functional hands
      Fluency in at least one language
      Hearing in the normal range

    • Diploma in Early Childhood Special Education (Hearing Impairment)
      The Diploma aims at generating quality teachers who could meet the challenges of the millennium for sustained development in children with hearing impairment in the age range of birth to six years. 
      Duration: 1 Year
      Qualifications to apply for: Successful completion of 10+2 or Higher Secondary Examination or equivalent with 50% marks.

    • D.Ed in Special Education (Hearing Impairment)
      The aim of the course is to train the aspirants as per the skills and expertise required to teach students depending on their disability.
      Duration: 2 Years
      Qualifications to apply for: Students who have passed 10+2 or equivalent with 50% of marks in any stream

    • B.Ed in Special Education (Hearing Impairment)
      After doing a B.Ed. course in special education (hearing impairment), an educator can provide the hearing impaired students with a higher level of self-sufficiency in their learning and day-to-day living. 
      Duration: 2 Years
      Qualifications to apply for: Must be a graduate pass from a recognized Institute with a 50% 

    • M.Ed in Special Education (Hearing Impairment)
      The major thrust of the M.Ed. Special Education (Hearing Impairment) program would be professional preparation of teacher educators who would through this process be equipped with the knowledge and competencies to facilitate and conduct initial preparation and continuing professional development of teachers.
      Duration: 2 Years

In the field of Intellectual Disability:

    • Diploma in Early Childhood Special Education (Intellectual Disability)
      To provide competencies to the trainees in early detection and assessment for programming. Help them work as a member of the interdisciplinary team. Provide strategies teaching for early childhood special education in various settings. Be a link between home and the school. Prepares the children for primary school. Equips the trainees with competencies in planning and management of early childhood special education programs.
      Duration: 1 Year
      Qualifications to apply for: Successful completion of 10+2 or Higher Secondary Examination or equivalent with 50% marks.

    • Diploma in Vocational Rehabilitation (Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities)
      The aim of the course is to prepare a cadre of trained personnel to provide services in the area of vocational rehabilitation including adult independent skills in persons with mental retardation functioning at various levels to lead them towards independent life as far as possible.
      Duration: 1 Year
      Qualifications to apply for: Successful completion of 10+2 or Higher Secondary Examination or equivalent with 50% marks.

    • D.Ed in Special Education (Intellectual Disability)
      It is comprised of theory, practice teaching, and practical courses. The Diploma in EducationSpecial Education (IDD) program consists of 5 Common Courses and 7 Specialization Courses about the education of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities i.e., ASD and SLD. The program is organized in such a manner that the content on the disabilities (ASD, ID, and SLD) is spirally integrated into all courses as per the requirement to prepare a cadre of special educators who develop competencies to meet their educational needs
      Duration: 2 Years
      Qualifications to apply for: Successful completion of 10+2 or Higher Secondary Examination or equivalent with 50% marks.

    • P.G. Diploma in Early Intervention
      The training program is designed to prepare personnel to provide quality services to infants and toddlers who are disabled or at risk and their families. Students are prepared to fulfill the role of a) interventionist who delivers services to children and their families b) function as program coordinators and supervisors in delivering services and c )operate effectively within an i~ter agency, inter-disciplinary team approach.
      Duration: 1 Year
      Qualifications to apply for: Candidates who have passed Candidates who have passed:
      a) M.B.B.S./BAMS/BUMS/BSMS/BNYS or Equivalent Degree
      b) BOT/BPT/BASLP/B.Ed-SE/ or Equivalent Degree
      c) B.Sc Nursing
      d) Post Graduate in Psychology/Social Work/Special Education/Child Development
      or Equivalent Degree with 50% aggregate marks or case of general candidates and 40% marks in case of SC and ST candidates are eligible to apply for this course.
      Age Limit: not more than 35 years.

    • Integrated Bachelor of Education-Master of Education-Special Education (Intellectual Disability)
      Three years B.Ed. – M.Ed. An integrated program has been developed to prepare the professional teacher committed to serving in the field of disability rehabilitation (intellectual disability). The program combines theory and practicals along with internships to inculcate the philosophy of inclusive education.
      Duration: 3 Years
      Qualifications to apply for: Candidates with at least fifty percent marks either in the Bachelor's Degree and/or in the Masters's degree in Sciences/ Social Sciences/ Humanities, Bachelor’s in Engineering or Technology with specialization in Science and Mathematics with 55 % marks or any other qualification equivalent thereto, are eligible for admission to the program.

    • B.Ed. Special Education (Intellectual Disability)
      This program aims to develop Special Education teachers /Educators for children with disabilities. B.Ed. (Special Education) the program will prepare human resources to enable them to acquire knowledge and develop competencies and skills to impart education and training effectively to Differently able children as well as all other children.
      Duration: 2 Years
      Qualifications to apply for: Candidates with at least 50% marks either in the Bachelor's Degree and/ or in the Masters's degree in Sciences/ Social Sciences/ Humanities, Bachelor’s in Engineering or Technology with specialization in Science and Mathematics with 55 % marks or any other qualification equivalent thereto, are eligible for admission to the program.

    • B.Sc. (Special Education and Rehabilitation)
      This program offers a bachelor's in special education and rehabilitation. Explains the various aspects of Special Education and Rehabilitation. 
      Duration: 3 Years
      Qualifications to apply for: Successful completion of 10+2 or Higher Secondary Examination or equivalent with 50% marks.

    • M.Ed. Special Education (Intellectual Disability)
      The aim of the M.Ed.Spl. Ed. program is of preparing teachers as education leaders. The major thrust of the M.Ed.Spl. Ed. program would be professional preparation of teacher educators who would through this process be equipped with the knowledge and competencies to facilitate and conduct initial preparation and continuing professional development of teachers.
      Duration: 2 Years
      Qualifications to apply for: A candidate who has successfully passed B.Ed Spl. Ed. with minimum 50% marks in respective disability area from a recognized university or any other degree considered equivalent to B.Ed Spl. Ed. from an affiliating university and/ or teaching department under any University recognized by U.G.C. with RCI registration.
      A candidate who has successfully passed the B.Ed. General course and has successfully completed Diploma in Education Special Education in respective disability area recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India with minimum 50 percent marks in each course.

In the field of Learning Disability:

    • Integrated Bachelor of Education-Master of Education Special Education (Specific Learning Disability )
      Three years B.Ed. – M.Ed. An integrated program has been developed to prepare the professional teacher committed to serving the field of disability rehabilitation (Specific Learning Disability). The program combines theory and practicals alongwith internships to inculcate the philosophy of inclusive education.
      Duration: 3 Years
      Qualifications to apply for: Candidates with at least 50% marks either in the Bachelor's Degree and/or in the Masters's degree in Sciences/ Social Sciences/ Humanities, Bachelor’s in Engineering or Technology with specialization in Science and Mathematics with 55 % marks or any other qualification equivalent thereto, are eligible for admission to the program.

    • B.Ed. Special Education (Learning Disability)
      The B.Ed.Spl. Ed. program aims to develop Special Education teachers/Educators for children with disabilities in various settings (including Inclusive, Special, Open School, and Home-Based Education). The B.Ed. (Special Education) the program will prepare human resources to enable them to acquire knowledge and develop competencies and skills to impart education and training effectively to children with disability, as well as all other children, and this, being teachers for all children
      Duration: 2 Years
      Qualifications to apply for:  Successful completion of 10+2 or Higher Secondary Examination or equivalent with 50% marks.

    • M.Ed. Special Education (Learning Disability)

In the field of Prosthetics & Orthotics:

    • Certificate Course in Prosthetics & Orthotic
      To train category III personnel (bench workers) for assembly and fitting of Orthopaedic appliances, artificial limbs, and other rehabilitation aids under the supervision of a Prosthetist & Orthotist (Category I professional).
      Duration: 1 Year
      Qualifications to apply for Certificate from I.T.I. in any of the trades of fitter/carpenter/leather. Or 10th class pass and two years of practical experience in a recognized P&O Centre under a P&O Professional

    • Diploma in Prosthetics and Orthotics
      The principal objective of this course is the training of men and women as Prosthetic and Orthotic technicians to meet the growing requirement for, well-qualified personnel competent to undertake this very specialized type of work in the country. A prosthetist / Orthotist is the specialist who in the exercise and pursuit of the art of prosthetics / Orthotics designs, fabricates, and fits prostheses (artificial limbs) and orthoses (Braces, supports, accessories, and remedial devices for locomotor handicapped) prescribed by a clinical team headed by a Prosthetists / Orthotists / Physical Medicine Specialist / Orthopaedic Surgeon. 
      Duration: 2 Years
      Qualifications to apply for: A minimum of 50% marks in each of the core subjects will be required for admission to the course.

    • Bachelor in Prosthetics and Orthotics
      The Prosthetic and Orthotic Professionals assess and evaluate patients, prescribe custom designs, fabricate, and fit the orthoses and prostheses. Rehabilitation of persons with locomotor disabilities or neuromuscular disorders is teamwork, where the centers of attention are the persons with disabilities.
      Duration: 4.5 Years
      Qualifications to apply for: A candidate who has passed 10+2 in science or equivalent with physics, chemistry biology/ mathematics, and English with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks in PCBE/PCME will be eligible for admission to this course.

    • Master in Prosthetics & Orthotics
      Assess, prescribe and provide comprehensive prosthetic and orthotic management to the individual and the community appropriate to his/her position as a member of the health care team. 
      Duration: 2 Years
      Qualifications to apply for: BPO/ B. Sc (P&O) degree or equivalent from any recognized University in India with a minimum of 50% marks

In the field of Community Based Rehabilitation:

    • Diploma in Community Based Rehabilitation
      The goal is to develop adequately trained and rightly oriented personnel to facilitate effective and sustainable inclusion of people with disabilities in the mainstream development program including poverty alleviation programs. 
      Duration: 2 Years
      Qualifications to apply for: Successful completion of 10+2 or Higher Secondary Examination or equivalent with 50% marks.

    • Post Graduate Diploma in Community Based Rehabilitation
      The goal is to develop adequately trained and rightly oriented personnel to facilitate effective and sustainable inclusion of people with disabilities in the mainstream development program including poverty alleviation programs.  
      Duration: 2 Years
      Qualifications to apply for: The candidate has passed graduation from a recognized university preferably in life sciences at the beginning of the academic year.
      Candidates who have completed the graduation + RCI recognized Diploma/PG Diploma of one year and above duration are eligible for entry in the second year.
      Candidates who have completed a medical degree, or degree in allied health professionals such as PT/OT/Speech/Psychology/Special Education/MSW/Economics/Sociology/Health Management/ Vocational Counselor are eligible for admission for the second year of the course.

In the field of Rehabilitation Psychology:

    • P.G. Diploma in Rehabilitation Psychology
      The aim of the course is to prepare rehabilitation counselors who promote understanding of the situations and needs of people with disabilities and perform a vital role in the personal, vocational and educational adjustment of persons with disability within the self-advocacy and community development model.
      Duration: 1 Year
      Qualifications to apply for: Bachelor's degree (regular mode) with general psychology courses in all three years.
      Master’s degree in any branch of psychology either in regular or distance mode.
      Master’s degree in counseling psychology either in regular or distance mode
      with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate

    • M.Phil (Rehabilitation Psychology)
      The M. Phil program is a core course in rehabilitation psychology with extensive theoretical inputs and supervised clinical practice in preparation for an internship to acquire the necessary professional skills to practice independently in the area of rehabilitation.
      Duration: 2 Years
      Qualifications to apply for
      There shall be an independent department of rehabilitation/clinical psychology at the institute/center/university catering to people with the following disabilities. 
            A) Specific developmental disability such as mental retardation, cerebral palsy, autism spectrum disorders, epilepsy, or any disabling conditions found to be closely related to development processes, that limit/disrupt life activities such as learning, speech and language, mobility, self-help, and independent living begin anytime during the developmental period (up to 18 years of age), and lasting throughout a person’s lifetime.
           B) Locomotor disability-congenital or acquired, including leprosy-cured.
           C) Sensory impairments such as hearing or vision and both.
           D) Multiple disabilities.
           E) Traumatic/burn injuries. 
       
      There shall be at least two permanent rehabilitation/clinical psychology faculty members on a full-time basis at the department, as specified below:
          A) At the level of Assistant Professor or above – one member
          B) At the level of Lecturer or above – one member

In the field of Clinical Psychology:

    • Psy.D in Clinical Psychology
      The aim of this program is to train and assist candidates in developing the knowledge base, attitudes, judgment, professionalism, and technical skills essential to function as a consultant clinical psychologist and trainer, based on the principle of progressively increasing levels of responsibility in core areas and sub-specializations.
      Duration: 4 Years
      Qualifications to apply for
      Direct Entry:
      a) M.A./M.Sc. degree in Psychology from a university recognized by the UGC with a minimum of 65% marks in aggregate. For SC/ST/ OBC category, a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate is essential.
      b) Should have completed Master’s Degree no more than five years before application.
      c) Should have completed a research dissertation at the Master's level.
      d) Two letters of recommendation from permanent faculty members from where a Masters's Degree has been completed should accompany the application. Of the two, at least one faculty member shall be with Ph.D.
      Lateral Entry:
      a) M.Phil Clinical Psychology degree from an RCI-recognized center with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate.
      b) Should have completed university exams of Part I and II in the first attempt.
      c) Should RCI registration be under the Clinical Psychologist category or the same must be in the process.
      d) Two letters of recommendation from permanent faculty members from where the M.Phil degree has been completed should accompany the application. Of the two, at least one faculty member shall be with Ph.D. 

    • Professional Diploma in Clinical Psychology
      The aim of this course is to train students with an acceptable level of competency to offer the basic mental health services such as identifying and diagnosing mental health problems in different populations, and intervening with appropriate counseling and psychotherapy/behavior therapy techniques while applying relevant code of conduct and ethical principles in all his/her activities
      Duration: 1 Year
      Qualifications to apply for: Minimum educational requirement for admission to this course will be M.A./M.Sc. degree in Psychology (or in counseling psychology, clinical psychology, applied psychology) from the UGC recognized university with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate.

    • M.Phil (Clinical Psychology)
      The aim of this course is to prepare the trainee to function as a qualified professional Clinical Psychologist in the areas of mental and physical health by offering Diagnostic, Therapeutic, Rehabilitative, and Administrative Services, and to work toward promoting well-being and quality of life of individuals. 
      Duration: 2 Years
      Qualifications to apply for
      There shall be an independent Department of Clinical Psychology, headed by a qualified Clinical Psychologist in the institute/ university.
      There shall be a minimum of two clinical psychology faculty members on a full-time basis at the department, as specified below:
               i) At the level of Associate Professor or above – one member
              ii) At the level of Assistant Professor/Lecturer or above – one member

In the field of Speech & Hearing:

    • Diploma in Hearing Language and Speech
      The aim of the program is to train a class of persons and equip them with basic skills for providing speech-language therapy, conducting programs for early identification of persons with communication disorders, educating members of the community on the prevention of communication disorders, conducting basic audiological testing, and for advising the hearing impaired at the village, block/taluka and town levels. They will work under the guidance of a fully trained graduate or a postgraduate Speech & Hearing clinician. 
      Duration: 1 Year
      Qualifications to apply for: Pass in 12th class with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics / Computer science with 50%
      Age Limit: <21 years on the 1st July of the year of admission

    • Diploma in Hearing Aid Repair and Ear Mould Technology
      The aim of the program is to train a class of persons and equip them with skills for care, maintenance, and repair of hearing aids, and assistive devices and address the needs of our clientele relating to ears.
      Duration: 1 Year
      Qualifications to apply for: A pass in 12th class with Physics or Electronics as one of the papers, or any recognized diploma in Electronics/ Electrical engineering, or any qualified dental technician course, or Certificate or Diploma from ITI in Electronics/ElectricalEngineering area
      Age Limit: <24 years on the 1st July of the year of admission

    • Post Graduate Diploma Course in Auditory Verbal Therapy
      The aim of the Post Graduate Diploma Course in Auditory Verbal Therapy is to train and equip professionals in the fields of Speech & Hearing and Special Education with knowledge and skills to practice auditory-verbal therapy with young children with deafness and hard of hearing as a part of the early intervention program. The course further aims to facilitate professionals in setting up early intervention centers staffed by therapists who have the requisite skills to work with deaf and hard-of-hearing children.
      Duration: 1 Year
      Qualifications to apply for: Any candidate with a graduate degree in Audiology /Speech-Language Pathology/ Speech and Hearing, or Special Education (HI), or equivalent degree from any other University and who is registered with the Rehabilitation Council of India will be eligible to seek admission for the course.

    • Post Graduate Diploma in Alternative and Augmentative Communication (on a pilot basis)
      The program aims at imparting knowledge regarding language development and its disorders. Primarily, the program will prepare the candidates to undertake inter-disciplinary research in the areas of speech, language and cognition. In addition, the program will equip speech-language pathologists to enhance their already acquired knowledge regarding the assessment, diagnosis, and planning of intervention programs for children and adults with communication problems in the Indian context.
      Duration: 1 Year
      Qualifications to apply for: Candidates with a degree in B.Sc. (Speech&Hearing)/BASLP from an institution that is recognized by RCI and considered as equivalent thereto with an average of not less than 50% of marks are eligible for admission.

    • Bachelor in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology
      The objectives of the B.ASLP program are to equip the students with knowledge and skills to function as audiologists and speech-language pathologists in different work settings understand concepts in speech, language, communication, hearing, and disability screen, evaluate, diagnose and assess the severity of different disorders related to speech, language, swallowing and hearing, manage speech, language, swallowing and hearing disorders across life span counsel persons with disorders of communication and their family members rehabilitate persons with speech, language, swallowing and hearing disorders prevent speech, language, swallowing and hearing disorders liaise with professionals in allied fields and other stakeholders implement public awareness and education program, undertake advocacy measures on behalf of and for persons with speech-language and hearing disorders.
      Duration: 4 Years
      Qualifications to apply for:
      I. Candidates passed 10+2 or an equivalent examination from a recognized Board with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks.
      ii. The applicant/candidate should have studied Physics, Chemistry, and any one of the subjects Biology / Mathematics / Computer Science / Statistics / Electronics / Psychology. iii. No age bar

    • M.Sc. in Speech-Language Pathology
      The objectives of the M.Sc. (SLP) program are to equip the students with knowledge and skills to
       function as teachers and researchers in institutions of higher learning,
       diagnose and manage disorders of hearing and balance across the life span,
       counsel and guide persons with disorders of hearing and balance as well as their family members,
       implement rehabilitation programs for persons with hearing and balance disorders,
       to function as the disability certification authority in the field,
       liaise with professionals in allied fields and other stakeholders,
       implement prevention and public education programs,
       undertake advocacy measures on behalf of and for persons with hearing and balance disorders,
       advise government and other institutions on legal and policy issues related to persons with hearing and balance disorders, and
       to establish and administer institutions of higher learning in the area
      Duration: 2 Years
      Qualifications to apply for:
      Candidates with BASLP/B.Sc.(Speech & Hearing) degree of any recognized university by the Rehabilitation Council of India with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks.

    • M.Sc. in Audiology

      • counsel and guide persons with disorders of hearing and balance as well as their family members,
      • implement rehabilitation programs for persons with hearing and balance disorders,
      • to function as the disability certification authority in the field,
      • liaise with professionals in allied fields and other stakeholders,
      • implement prevention and public education programs,
      • undertake advocacy measures on behalf of and for persons with hearing and balance disorders,
      • advise government and other institutions on legal and policy issues related to persons with hearing and balance disorders, and
      • to establish and administer institutions of higher learning in the area.
      Duration: 2 Years
      Qualifications to apply for: Candidates with BASLP/B.Sc.(Speech & Hearing) degree of any recognized university by the Rehabilitation Council of India with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks.

In the field of Locomotor and Cerebral Palsy:

    • D.Ed. Special Education (Multiple Disabilities)  (on a pilot basis)
       Children with multiple disabilities will have many disabilities that may include:  learning, intellectual disability, speech, physical mobility, visual, hearing, brain injury, and possibly others. Along with multiple disabilities, Children can also exhibit sensory losses and behavior or social problems. These Children may face difficulty in remembering skills and or using these skills from one situation to another.
      In this course, students are trained to teach and help them develop vocational skills.
      Duration: 2 Years
      Qualifications to apply for: Successful completion of 10+2 or Higher Secondary Examination or equivalent with 50% marks

    • D.Ed. Special Education (Cerebral Palsy)
      To prepare special teachers who can provide services to children with cerebral palsy and their families from infancy to pre-vocational levels in the following settings:
      1) Early intervention Programmes
      2) Special Schools – Day Care/Residential
      3) Integrated \ Inclusive Schools
      4) Home Based Programmes
      5) Community Based Rehabilitation Programmes
      6) Pre-vocational Programmes
      Duration: 2 Years
      Qualifications to apply for: Merit for admission to this course will be prepared from 100 marks. The division of the marks is as follows:
      i. 50% weightage to 10+2 marks (50 marks)
      ii. 10% to parents and siblings of the persons with disabilities (10 marks)
      iii. 10% to additional higher qualifications (10 marks)
      iv. 10% to written examination (10 marks)
      v. 20% to the interview (20 marks)

    • P.G. Dip. in Developmental Therapy (Mult. Dis.:Physical and Neuro.)
      To develop human resources in the area of developmental therapy to facilitate appropriate physical and functional therapeutic intervention, to achieve maximum functional independence and better quality of life for persons with disabilities. 
      Duration: 1 Years and 3 months internship.
      Qualifications to apply for: Minimum 50% marks in graduation
      1 Bachelor’s degree in Home Science, Human Biology, Anthropology, Zoology, and Botany from a recognized university.
      OR
      2. Bachelor’s degree in Medical Sciences and Paramedical sciences from a recognized university.
      OR
      3. Bachelor’s degree in subjects other than those mentioned above from a recognized university with at least one year of hands-on experience in working with persons with disability and their families.
      OR
      4. Bachelor’s degree in any subject other than those mentioned in (01) and (2) from a recognized university with an allied course in the field of disability rehabilitation.
      OR
      Master’s degree in Child Development, Social Work or of the subjects mentioned in (01) and (2).
      OR
      6. Master’s degree in subjects other than those mentioned in (01) and (2) with either one-year hands-on experience in working with persons with disability and their families or an allied course in the field of disability rehabilitation. 

    • B.Ed. Special Education (Multiple Disabilities)

      Duration: 2 Years
      Qualifications to apply for: The admission for the degree of M.Ed. Spl.Edn (ID) degree shall be open to:
       A candidate who has successfully passed B.Ed Spl. Ed. (ID) with a minimum of 50% marks from a recognized university or any other degree considered equivalent to B.Ed Spl. Ed (ID) from any university or teaching department under any university recognized by U.G.C and approved by RCI.
       A candidate who has successfully passed the B.Ed General course and has successfully completed the Diploma in Education Special Education (ID) recognized by the RCI with a minimum of 50% marks in each course.
       A student with B.Ed. in particular, specialization may be allowed for M.Ed. multi-category but the reverse is not allowed. B.Ed. with multi-category should not be admitted for specialization in a single disability at the M.Ed. level.
       A student with B.A./B.S

In the field of Autism Spectrum and Disorder:

    • D.Ed. Special Education (Autism Spectrum Disorders)
      Autism Spectrum Disorders (D.Ed.Spl Ed-ASD) is a two-year intensive training program for those interested in developing a career in special needs, with a particular focus on autism.
      Duration: 2 Years
      Qualifications to apply for
      I Essential qualifications of 10+2 or equivalent with 50% marks 60
      II Sports Activities 10 
      III Parents and siblings of children with disabilities 05
      IV Applicant with Disability 10
      V Interview 15
      TOTAL 100

    • B.Ed. Special Education (Autism Spectrum Disorder)
      This is an ideal training program for those interested in pursuing a career in special needs with a specialization in Autism Spectrum Conditions. Upon successful completion of the program, the candidates are certified Special Educators and can work as Special Educators in leading schools - special or mainstream, special needs organizations, or as independent consultants as well as seek employment in the government sector.
      Duration: 2 Years
      Qualifications to apply for
      Candidates with at least fifty percent marks either in the Bachelor's degree and/or in the Master's degree in Sciences/Social Sciences/Humanities, Bachelor’s in Engineering or Technology with specialization in Science and Mathematics with 55% marks or any other qualification equivalent thereto, are eligible for admission to the program.

    • M.Ed. Special Education (Autism Spectrum Disorder) (on a pilot basis)
      After the course, the student will be able
       to function as a teacher educator and faculty member in teacher training courses
       to function as researchers in the field of disability rehabilitation and special education
       to function as educational program planners in general, inclusive and special schools

      a) A candidate who has successfully passed B.Ed Spl.Edn. (A.S.D) with a minimum of 50% marks from a recognized university or by
      b) A candidate who has successfully passed the B.Ed.(General) with minimum of 50% marks and D.Ed/Diploma in Special Education (A.S.D) with minimum of 50 percent marks or
      c) A candidate who has successfully passed B.Ed Spl.Edn. (M.R) with a minimum of 50% marks from a recognized university or
      d) A candidate who has successfully passed B.Ed Spl.Edn. (M.D) with a minimum of 50% marks from a recognized university

In the field of Rehabilitation Therapy:

    • Certificate Course in Rehabilitation Therapy
      The program aims, in particular, to meet the needs of People with Disabilities in low-income countries who are currently unable to access rehabilitation services. As a first step toward meeting this need, the program is a development towards a second generation of Rehabilitation Therapists with the aim that on completion of the program students can (under supervision) appropriately assess and provide therapeutic intervention for people with disabilities. They will be able to reassess and evaluate their intervention, document all the above, and work within their limitations.
      Duration: 1 Year
      Qualifications to apply for
      Have a minimum of 12 years of school OR have completed ‘A’ level education. Preference will be given to persons with disabilities especially women with disabilities. 12 years of schooling could allow students to apply for higher category training programs in the future.
      Be aged 18 years minimum.
      Being able to read, write and understand spoken English at a basic level will enable the student to actively participate throughout the training program.
      Students will be assessed by an English entry exam at the beginning of the course.
      If possible, spend about 3 to 4 months at the organization where students will be working on completion of their training, before coming for the training, preferably in the areas of rehabilitation or Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR) program. This is not compulsory.

    • Diploma in Rehabilitation Therapy
      "Diploma in Rehabilitation Therapy", has been drafted with the overall objective to prepare suitable manpower in the field of rehabilitation, who can provide the rehabilitation therapy at the district level which is very much lacking at the present, as well as act as a first level referral point for the grass-root level. In addition, it can also take care of the training programs of community workers at the grass-root level.
      Duration: 2 Years
      Qualifications to apply for: 10+2 (PCB) with a minimum of 50% marks from a recognized board like CBSE or equivalent. A separate 6 months module may be developed for Multi Rehabilitation workers (MRW) to bring them to par with rehabilitation therapists.

In the field of Vocation Counselling and Rehabilitation Social Work/Administration:

    • Advance Diploma in Child Guidance and Counselling
      To create professional and personal growth opportunities for those working with children and child-related systems to enable children to actualize their potential. 
      Duration: 1 Year
      Qualifications to apply for: 10+2 with a minimum of 50% marks 

    • Post-Graduate Diploma in Disability Rehabilitation and Management
      a. Management of organizations in the field of disability rehabilitation as professional managers.
      b. To manage projects in disability rehabilitation as Project Managers/Coordinators, monitoring, documentation, dissemination, networking, liaising, resource mobilization evaluation, and implementation of programs.
      c. To professionalize functioning in respect of financial, personnel, and human resource development; and to ensure the sustainability of disability rehabilitation organizations.
      Duration: 1 Year
      Qualifications to apply for:
      a. A registered Rehabilitation Professional / Personnel with graduation
      b. Degree in Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Disability Studies preferably with 1-year of experience in the area of disability
      c. Graduation in medicine  

    • Bachelor in Rehabilitation Science
      To impart knowledge regarding the misconceptions, facts, and psychological and sociological implications of visually impaired, hearing impaired, mentally retarded, and locomotor disabled.
      Duration: 3 Years
      Qualifications to apply for:
      All students who have successfully completed the higher secondary school examination / intermediate examination / preódegree examination from a recognized board of examination.
      Preference will be given to students with science subjects.
      In addition, the candidate should have a strong interest in serving the disabled population on completion of training.
      The candidate should possess a very good command of English and Local Language.

    • M.A. Social Work in Disability Studies and Action
      To learn to be self-aware, to innovate, and to evolve an anti-oppressive, empowerment-based micro and macro partnership practice for working with, through, and for people with disabilities and various stakeholders. 
      Duration: 2 Years
      Qualifications to apply for: Graduate in any discipline with 50%

    • Master in Disability Rehabilitation Administration
      Disability rehabilitation as a field of knowledge and practice has made strides. Issues of disability rehabilitation involve multiple stakeholders, a variety of disciplines, and professional streams. Social obligations and expectations, as well as, the establishment and development of different kinds of institutions both the government sector as well as the voluntary sector. Our commitment to a society based on the principles of equality of rights and opportunities is posing a variety of challenges to those involved in disability rehabilitation including the policymakers, the program administrator, service provider institutions engaged in manpower development, and the society at large.
      Duration: 2 Years
      Qualifications to apply for: The candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in disability rehabilitation recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India and /or Medical Council of India with a minimum of 50% Marks.
      OR
      The candidate should have a Master’s degree from any recognized University /or accredited body in the fields of psychology, social work, management, social welfare, Rehabilitation Psychology, Rehabilitation Social Work, and Rehabilitation Management to be added. 

    • M.Sc. (Psycho-Social  Rehabilitation )
      The course includes theory papers, subsidiary subjects, and practicals/fieldwork. Students shall be posted to various agencies working in the area of mental health (psychiatric hospitals and rehabilitation centers) during the practical hours
      Duration: 2 Years
      Qualifications to apply for:
      The general admission eligibility rules of the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences as applicable to the Post Graduate studies such as minimum marks secured, age, domicile, etc. shall apply to M. Sc. (PSR & C) course.
      ii) A candidate who has passed a Bachelor’s Degree in any one of the following subjects from a recognized university/institution, is eligible to seek admission to M. Sc. (PSR & C) course:- Social Work or Psychology or Sociology or Nursing or Home Science or Occupational Therapy or any Graduate with Behavioural & Social Sciences as one of the major subjects of study and has secured not less than 50% of aggregate marks in the final examination excluding marks in languages. Any graduate with an M.B.B.S. degree from a recognized Indian University or its equivalent

    • Master in Rehabilitation Science
      To provide knowledge of the causes of disability, methods of prevention, medical, educational, social, and vocational rehabilitation measures available to the disabled
      Duration: 2 Years
      Qualifications to apply for:
      Preference will be given to B.R.Sc., (Bachelor of Rehabilitation Science) / B.M.R./ B.Sc. Special Education / B.Ed. Special Education / B.S.W.
      In addition, the candidate should have a strong interest in serving the disabled population on completion of training.
      The candidate should possess a very good command of English and the Local Language

CareGivers:

    • Certificate Course in Care Giving
      To prepare a cadre of trained caregivers to provide quality care in various areas of disabilities ranging from infancy to old age. 
      Duration: 10 Months
      Qualifications to apply for: The minimum entry qualifications would be a 10th or equivalent pass.

In the field of Inclusive Education:

    • Bachelor of Science Bachelor of Education Special Education
      The B A. / B.Com. / B.Sc. B.Ed. The Special Education program aims to prepare teachers for children with special needs in various educational settings. The program will prepare human resources to acquire both content knowledge and pedagogical skills to teach all children.
      Duration: 4 Years
      Qualifications to apply for: Candidates with at least 50% marks in the senior secondary / + 2 or its equivalent are eligible for admission, considering the uniqueness of the program, there is no exit facility at the end of the third year. Therefore, every student should compulsorily complete four years once they decide to pursue this program. Relaxation and reservation as per respective government norms.

    • Bachelor of Art/Bachelor of Commerce
      The B A. / B.Com. / B.Sc. B.Ed. The Special Education program aims to prepare teachers for children with special needs in various educational settings. The program will prepare human resources to acquire both content knowledge and pedagogical skills to teach all children.
